David Cavanagh Seminar 2008

David Cavanagh’s seminar earlier this month was focused and informative. I learned stuff about WordPress and have started to implement some of it.

Also I bought software to put video and audio material onto my website and there is new support in the form of Quentin Brown - a gem.

I look forward to a continuing efficient interaction.

I spoke with 3 consultants and coders about conversion of traffic to sales. All promised to look at competitor’s sites and improve mine. They want $500 to $1000. I don’t know if I should give them the job, having been burned before. And of course there are no guarantees.

In the meanwhile a dear friend recommended to me www.sitesell.com. It is an amazing package which for newbies like myself takes you through the process of choosing keywords, narrowing down the business concept, finding ways to monetize the business and - I have just reached so far.

But it is light at the end of the tunnel! After receiving so many visitors to my sites and not getting any conversions, I had just stopped doing any work on them for 3 weeks!

The internet business is causing me all kinds of anxiety. I have received more than 3000 unique visitors to both www.taxhavencompany.com and www.cosmetics-hair.com but no conversions.

After feeling dejected and racking my brains for a solution I am back to finding one after a 3 week break not looking at the 2 businesses!

I dont know where to learn about conversions! Must find another internet guru. Maybe my products are not interesting?

Conversion

In both my websites - www.taxhavencompany.com and www.cosmetics-hair.com I have received thousands of ‘unique’ visitors, but no sale.

 Now I have removed the sales letter format opening page in taxhavencompany.com and am trying to see if conversions start!

Very pathetic. I have been focused entirely on traffic and did not look at conversions. Now I have stopped looking at traffic…

SEO work has brought this site to #9 in Google and now I need conversions!

Finally, after changing servers, spending money and time on collecting email ids, and sending out hundreds of thousands of emails, I got lots of traffic to www.cosmetics-hair.com and www.taxhavencompany.com. Very few conversions though.

My internet marketing gurus tell me to stop sending emails, and to start a more focused approach via articles, links, affiliates and AdWords.

So, my career as a bulk emailer who was gradually shifting to being branded a spammer, has ended and I am now delving into the intricacies of Google’s AdWords!

Finally I am on a dedicated server and have restarted my email campaign. Getting a lot of visitors to the websites now. And some email enquiries so I know that some people are reading the emails.

Changed the www.cosmetics-hair.com index page!

Finally I have changed the index page of www.cosmetics-hair.com! Average number of pages opened by every unique visitor has gone up to 7 from 2.

The day I send the email out I check the number of unique visitors visiting the website, and waiting for sales. The average number has gone up to 140 / day.

I wonder what the normal conversion ration is?

www.cosmetics-hair.com had 398 visitors today!

I listened to the advice from my hosting company and spent more money to shift to a dedicated server!

Now I can do email marketing. And it is working in terms of traffic.

Surely sales will follow!?
